Ivan Vesely, Ph.D.
Dr. Vesely is a biomedical engineer with expertise in cardiovascular devices. He is considered by many to be the leading authority on prosthetic heart valve design and tissue engineering. For 20 years, Dr. Vesely directed a well-funded research program in cardiovascular biomaterials materials in Academia. He spent 9 years at the Department of Biomedical Engineering at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation and 3 years as the Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery Research at the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and the University of Southern California. Dr. Vesely offers clients his experience in materials/tissue interactions and device design, particularly in the cardiovascular field. Dr. Vesely received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1983 and his Ph.D. in Biophysics in 1987, both from the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. During his academic career, Dr. Vesely published over 85 papers on various aspects of heart valve biomechanics, modeling and tissue engineering. He is the author of 11 issued patents and the founder of two start-up companies. His expertise ranges from soft tissue biomechanics, to computational modeling, to tissue engineering. Dr. Vesely is well-connected at the NIH and in academia, and offers direction in research grant application, research study design and explant evaluation. Dr. Vesely joined Bio-logistics in 2006. |
